Homemade Ant Bait

Don't waste your money on the tiny packages sold at the store! Make your own jar for a fraction of the cost. This recipe makes 2 cups ... which is hopefully a lot more than you will need, so you can share a cup with your friend.

The ants love it ... but it does not love them. Here is a photo of some bait I put out yesterday in our pantry. It took about 5 minutes for the ants to find it and now there are hundreds swarming around. Before too long they will all be dead. This photo was taken about 30 minutes after they found the bait, so there are not that many yet.

Mix 1c warm water with 2c sugar and 2T borax. Stir till well combined. It will become a bit syrupy as it cools. I like to put it in a canning lid as shown in the photo. Sometimes it hardens as it sits, so be sure to check it and add more as needed.
